McIntosh MC-30

McINTOSH MC-30 'MATCHED PAIR' A-116-B CLOSE SERIAL NUMBERS PERFORMANCE CERTIFIED

This is a pair of McIntosh MC-30 tube amplifiers, type A-116-B. They are very close serial numbers: 2E378 and 2E385. I would call them a 'matched pair' considering most pairs of MC-30s you see today for sale were put together from mono units that were not purchased together. Because of the close serial numbers, I believe this pair has been together since new.

This pair was sent to McIntosh in 1975 to be performance certified and there are stickers on the fronts to testify to this. I do not know what work was done by McIntosh at the time, but it appears there are some newer style components (main filter caps, Orange Drop coupling caps, etc). The tube compliment is as follows: Sylvania 12AX7A, RCA clear top 6CG7, Sylvania 12BH7A, Sylvania 12AX7A, RCA "Made for McIntosh" 6L6GC, Sylvania 5U4GB. These amps play very well and sound exactly as they should. I have used them for about a year now and thoroughly enjoyed them with my Altec-Lansing Model 19's which are very efficient speakers and there is very little hum present. These amps sound totally musical and non-fatiguing with every signal source I have used. If you are in the market for a pair of MC-30's you will not find a nicer 'matched pair' at this price point.

Each amp weighs approx 30 lbs, unboxed. I will most likely use two separate boxes to ship these, and the tubes will be removed from the amps and packed carefully stowed in with each amp. It will take me some time to pack the amps properly so I do ask for a few extra days on these to make sure they are packaged well for safe transport.

I am not a regular seller on Audiogon classifieds but I have 17+ years on eBay under the name of polaris26 with 750+ transactions and 100% positive feedback.

Since the shipping calculator does not seem to have a 'multiple packages' option, I am entering the data for one larger/heavier box; I am willing to absorb any extra cost if necessary.

These amps are located in the Poconos (Northeast PA) and local pickup is encouraged, but you must pay at time of sale via PayPal. I may also be able to meet you part way to deliver the amps within a reasonable driving range (one hour or so, one way) if this would help you with the pickup. I cannot arrange an audition of the amps at their present location.
