Weiss DAC2 (Firewire, S/PDIF, AES/EBU) (AKA Minerva)

Exceptional DAC from Weiss - Blue Moon Award winner from SixMoons.com. Electronically identical to the Minerva DAC – the only difference is the faceplate. Ideally suited for computer audio applications, but fully capable and equally wonderful as an outboard DAC for disc-based playback.

24 bit/192 kHz capable, upsampling capable.

Inputs: Firewire (2); S/PDIF (RCA & optical); AES/EBU (1) ** Employs several signal reclocking schemes for extremely high jitter attenuation over a very wide bandwidth **

Digital Outputs: S/PDIF (RCA); AES/EBU (allows the DAC2 to work as an interface between a computer and any other device that uses S/PDIF or AES/EBU inputs).

Analogue Outputs: Unbalanced RCA (2); Balanced (2)

Output level adjustable to 4 settings: 1.35, 1.78, 2.74 and 5.48 Vrms (resistor-based, not digital).

Digital volume control – can bypass preamplifier if desired.

Configured for 120V operation, but easily switchable to 240V.

Most recent firmware installed.

Drivers for both Windows and Apple OSX operating sytems.

Comes with free “Amarra HiFi” playback software and discounts for additional Amarra purchases. At my asking price I'll also include a Reference Recordings HRx sampler disc (DVD-R) containing 176.4 kHz/24 bit WAV files from the RR HRx catalog. This is a wonderful disc - great music and amazing sonics - and a great way to quickly dive into HiRez enjoyment with the Weiss DAC2.
