Merrill Replica ES Turntable ES-1R
With a Modified Jelco SA-250 tonearm
and Audioquest cable
Designed and manufactured in the USA by George Merrill
So your turntable budget dictates you will have to compromise on sound quality. Not any more!
The Merrill Replica ES-R1 turntable is based on the Merrill AR modifications with attributes from the Merrill Heirloom added. Low cost low performance turntables are usually comprised of a sonically poor slab of particle board. The sonic detail is poor the image is constricted. The ES-R1 mechanical energy transmission chain is totally polymer. Their is NO metal, glass or other high energy conductive material in the chain. The affordable ES-R1 will outperform turntables costing many many thousands of dollars more.

A review on Dagogo = dagogo.com/merrill-replica-es-r1-turntable-review
The Merrill Replica design is based on the Merrill AR modifications with attributes from the Merrill Heirloom. If you are not familiar with the Merrill Heirloom it was introduced in 1980 with many innovations. Energy Management design - first use of acrylics in turntable design - first periphery clamping ring- constant resonant tuned subchassis- first lead mat- fluid damped motor- oil well bearing- digital motor drive system. A terrific review in The Absolute Sound # 43 1986. The exact design to the thousands of an inch was reintroduced by Scillia as the Merrill Scillia and garnered a Class A rating in Stereophile for 3 1/2 years. This turntable ( ES-R1 Replica) has the same sonic character as the Heirloom

Questions for the seller |
---|
does the table play both 33 and 45 or is the digital upgrade needed to play 45 speed
Thank you Hi, The Replicas belt drive system is designed to have the optimum low pass belt impulse filtering using one pulley sheave. A two sheave pulley can be utilized, this changes the belt tuning but will allow 45 rpm playing. If you wish to render the best performance from both 33.3 and 45 rpm recordings the Motor Drive is the ticket. This can be added to the table at a later date. Thanks George |
