This is a great sounding, very original circuit, 6wpc
several reviews available including 6moons (blue moon award!) and enjoy the music.
This amp "won" my personal shootout, but I sold my speakers and am probably going to live without for a year or more- I'm moving for work, renting a small room, no speakers.
I'll include the best tubes i have for the amp- not the beater ones I want to get rid of or a set of new "mullards" (thats how i received it). I want you to hear the amp at its best and be very very happy. So the tubes in question are Baldwin labelled Sylvania 12ax7 (these particular samples are so good), A full set of "General" 70's russian el84 AND a set of NOS Tungsram Austrian el84 (which I used for only a few hours). Each quad of power tubes is very good and will give you a chance to adjust flavors- you can even mix one of each per channel (really). The rectifier will be a Mullard GZ32 that I purchased from Upscale Audio. Frank at Triode Lab recommends this tube as the best sounding.
2 inputs
4/8ohm switch
The only flaw: The positive binding post on the right channel is kind of wonky-it "skips" some positions- it must be somewhat stripped. I have been able to use my spade-terminated cables just fine, but it felt a little loose. Did not seem to effect balance/sound. But I do not want there to be any surprises here.
