Marantz PM-94 Class A integrated amp

Own a legend, a piece of audio history, Marantz PM-94 integrated amp, late 80’s to early 1990 vintage,
Mos-fet class A design, 140W x2 AB, first 35W is in full class A. It runs hot
as a true class A design should be. It was from the collection an older
gentleman whom have retired from the audiophile hobby. It was kept for years
inside the factory box in his residence. The PM-94 is fully tested & with
many hours of play time producing beautiful music. It has a wonderful phono stage
(see excerpt of review below). Original retail $2900 in 1988 dollar (easily
equivalent to $5000 nowadays), selling $950. Has factory box but no manual,
which can be obtained from eBay inexpensively.

With that overview, its obvious that this is not a muscle amp...It is MosFet
and pure Class A to 35 watts...It is sweet and subtle like SETs, not dissonant
like most Class A/B bipolar transistors...If you obsess over tonalily like most
reviewers obsess over resolution you will love it...It reproduces the human
voice like no other transistor amp I've ever heard...In the final analysis, of
course, it's all a matter of personal taste... 


…………..A few words regarding the phono section...It is superb...The sound
texture is remarkably open and expansive...Tone quality is entirely consistent
with the unit as a while...Classical piano is rich and resonant; voices are
those of real human beings, and strings (the Achilles heel of transistors) are
completely natural...
