The TDAI 2170 is everthing but your source and speakers. It is a state of the art DAC with USB, coax and optical inputs that will play all PCM files up to 384K and DSD128 over USB or HDMI. The Crossover network feeds the built in amplifer which is 85 watts at 8 ohms and 170 watts into 4 ohms but will also feed what ever portion of the frequency range you want  out of a pair of RCA jacks for left and right or through a spdif output on the back for a true digital amplifier like the SDA 2400  from Lyngdorf which will have both analog and digital inputs to work from. This allows you to do more than biAmp your speakers it allows you  to pass the correct frequency range through your amplifiers to your speakers or perfectly integrate one or 2 subwoofers with your main speakers.  In addition you choose the ideal crossover frequency  and slope up to 48 dB per octave slope and your choice of Bessel or Linkwitz Riley crossover network. You don't need a outboard DAC as the TDAI 2170 with the USB or HDMI options can D to A up to 384K PCM signals and D125 DSD files.  If you don't need USB or HDMI inputs you can use the optical or coax spdif inputs.  Besides being amazingly convienent for an audiophile product you eliminate most of your anaolog signal cables as none are needed between DAC and or CD PLayer and the TDAI 2170.  The TDAI 2170 has 2 pair of single ended analog inputs and you can ad their deluxe analog inputs which includes a pair of balanced analog inputs and 2 pair additonal rca high end analog inputs.
