(and I have auditioned quite a few including Magicos.....)

Sound Lab electrostatic speakers incorporate a membrane
having the lowest moving mass of any speaker technology. Furthermore, virtually
every molecule of the membrane is driven identically.
 It
has the lowest moving mass of any acoustic transducer, even lower than the
so-called mass-less "flame" speaker, whose ionic capsule has a higher
equivalent mass. Or the ribbon speaker, whose membrane requires metallic
elements to conduct relatively high current (hence, mass and heat).
It has even distribution of the driving force over the
entirety of the membrane (iso-phasic force). In other words, every point on the
membrane is driven independently, but identically.
The electrostatic speaker panel exhibits the lowest mass,
lowest distortion and the tightest control over membrane motion of any type of
transducer. This means that a properly designed electrostatic speaker
re-creates music with unsurpassed accuracy and naturalness. That's what Sound Lab is
about.
There
are two reasons for this claim. First, a properly designed electrostatic
speaker has a lower moving mass than that of any other speaker technology. The
unit mass of the membrane of Sound Lab speakers is significantly less than the
unit mass of the air load it is moving. In fact, our speakers probably have the
lowest moving mass of any speaker on the market. The benefits of this are
several. When the membrane is commanded to stop or start, it does so without
the delay that higher mass speakers exhibit. Also, since air-mass has the
greatest influence on transduction characteristics, the speaker inherits the
optimum damping characteristics of air. Transients are crisper and cleaner.
Detail is much more apparent.
Secondly,
the force that drives the membrane of our electrostatic speakers is evenly
distributed over the entire radiating surface. Therefore, every point on the
membrane is driven equally (iso-phasic) and the total membrane is always under
tight control. As a result, the membrane can be very thin and flexible. Due to
optimum damping and excellent signal compliance, distortion and irritation
factors are extremely low.

 Commonly
considered one of the best speakers in the world. This truly state of the art
electrostatic speaker, provides sound from 22 hertz to the ultra-sonic range,
in crisp, clean, quick fashion. They throw an incredible soundstage, with good
program material, that really envelopes you in the music. Imaging is stable at
all frequencies, and at all heights, from sitting to standing. They are bipolar
speakers, and provide a very wide sweet spot, so you don’t have to sit in one
spot to enjoy the music. You can even enjoy it with a friend. They will play
loudly, so they are suited for large rooms, but can be used in a fair sized
bedroom. They should be about 3 feet from the rear wall, and angled toward the
listening seat. Like most all full-range ‘stats, they also sound very good
playing quietly. If you want to hear an orchestra the way it was meant to be
heard, you need these. The same for vocals, incredible! They are like, in the
room with you.

The Sound
LAB speakers are very
accurate, very detailed, with a flat frequency  response and with a very
wide and tall sweet spot.
 Technology
The way Sound Lab speakers work is
that basically they use a modulated voltage to move a large thin membrane
stretched over lots of charged panels (vertical strips) back and forth, very
quickly, in response to the signal from the amplifier, and these vibrations
are what cause sound to be generated. It is the thinness of the membrane,
much thinner than the average cone speaker, makes it able to respond
immediately to the slightest musical nuance. The large the size of the
membrane and its curvature makes the sound-staging and imaging very realistic
and forgiving of listener position. Additionally, the fact that this just one
large single driver that requires no crossover circuitry, a frequent cause of
distortion and other problems in most if not all full-range speakers today,
also helps make the sound extremely pure and clear sounding. All in all a
technology tour-de-force.
