Magnepan tympani iv speakers for sale. Incredible sounding speakers. These were bought new in 1984 by a personal friend of mine. In 2009 they were sent to Magnepan for checkup and they reconditioned them as follows (Email confirmed by Magnepan).

The bass and midrange panels were stripped and rewired.
2 new tweeters
6 new covers
the -L input plate was replaced ( it was bent )

So these are basically new speakers as of 2009 so with the right care the next owner should get 20 more years out of them. Note these have never been abused with most of the listening being jazz, light instrumentals and vocals.

The physical condition is very good. There are some minor marks on one of the bass fabric panels plus one panel has some pulled fabric (see last picture).

The panels foldup and can be shipped fedex in two separate boxes (130 pounds each) or freight in one box. I have a local box company that can make a pair of double insulated boxes for $50 for the pair which are stronger than the original boxes. I would recommend the crossovers are shipped in a separate smaller box. Fedex quote for shipping is $380 for the east coast and $340 to west coast. Alternatively freight can be used.

Each speaker fully extended is 51 (h) x 72 (W) x 1 although when angled in are a considerably smaller footprint. There are a lot of folding options to suit your room size and listening tastes.

For the money they are hard to beat. They sound better than some speakers I've heard that are 10 times the price.
