The Jolida JD-9 MK2 is a wonderful $650.00 phono stage. It has received praise as a superb value that competes with phono stages that sell for much more money. The JD-9 MK2 uses a tubed output stage and has rear panel controls for cartridge adjustment. It has enough gain to run almost all moving magnet and moving coil phono stages.

Our Level-1 mod takes it to the next level and allows it to compete with phono stages that sell for up to $1,500.00. The mod was designed by Chris Johnson, the founder and former president of Sonic Frontiers. Modified units come with the full Jolida factory warranty.

The following details our Level-1 modification for the Jolida JD-9 phono Stage:

1) We install Two AURICAP "signal path" metallized polypropylene coupling capacitors.

2) Four upgraded Coupling, Bypass and Power supply capacitor are added.

3) Eight RIKEN OHM ½ and one watt "signal path" 1% carbon comp. resistors with gold-plated leads are installed.

4) Four International Rectifier HEXFRED, ultra-fast soft recovery, diodes are installed in the POWER SUPPLY

5) We replace the two "stock" preamp tubes with premium Electro Harmonix Gold pin 12AX7's.

6) We Install Four small” EAR brand SORBOTHANE isolation feet.

7) Two sheets of SOUNDCOAT chassis damping material cut & applied where applicable

8) WBT high silver content (4%) solder used throughout

9) The mod takes a total of 3 hours labor.

SONIC CHANGES of LEVEL 1 MODIFICATION

-It has a more liquid midrange and now has a more neutral presentation from bass to treble.
-It is Quieter. The BLACK’s are BLACKER, thus resolving more low level Detail and ambiance retrieval.
-It is more dynamic and micro dynamic contrasts are much improved.
-Transparency is improved and you can now look farther into the sound stage.
-Images are sized better and are more defined. Stage width and depth improve.
-Bass slam and extension are improved with fuller weight and authority in the critical mid-bass region...It now competes with much more expensive units in this important area.
