I am the second owner. I've had it since 2009. It's been in storage for the past year. This is a hybrid "best of both worlds" design with a tube front end buffering a solid-state amp. (Please see website copy below.) Cosmetically it's nothing to write home about but it sounds great.  Absolutely no WAF even when new, though the blue glow from the five tubes is cool.

This is a home theater piece. I ran it bi-amped for the front L and R and used the remaining channel for Center. Sweet, solid and warm. Not ultra tight, solid state Krell thud but plenty of grunt. Tuneful and musical. Add one or two subs if you want dinosaurs in your living room.
Butler provided me with a new on/off switch a few years ago which I had installed by one of the better techs in LA. Unit runs cool to the touch, needs a bit of venting is all. Connectors are beefy and you can use your favorite power cord.
Rated 5 to avoid any discussion when you get it and priced accordingly.

  • The left side panel looked like that when I got it - the paint is peeling/flaking. The panel could be replaced, or sandblasted and painted if it mattered to you.

  • Yes there is a screw missing at the top back of the right panel.

  • Please look carefully at close-up of the 3" scratch/gouge on the top- that won't come out easily.

The good news is that none of this affects performance or is visible. Once you put it in a rack or cabinet you will be very happy and forget all about it. You'll smirk and say, yeah I got it for a grand...

Sell price includes having my local crating company build a new outer box. Shipping will be at cost via the carrier of your choice. Weight is 60 pounds.

Selling because I am seriously downsizing and getting out of the surround game.
It is almost impossible to buy 5-channels of 150w sound like this for the asking price.

BK Butler's Tube Driver BLUE technology places the triodes exactly where they should be: DC coupled through the output power devices to the speakers. Therefore, the tubes are positioned to naturally and actively respond to the dynamic speaker load. This also completely eliminates one of the most inefficient and non-musical components in a typical tube power amplifier: the Output Transformer. Without the phase shift and induction generation caused by hundreds of turns of wire and massive core iron to overcome, BK Butler's newly patented current multiplying DC coupled circuitry allows the 6SL7GT output driver tubes to directly operate into the constant ratio-reduced speaker load. This novel design allows the tubes to safely produce authentic power vacuum tube dynamic characteristics hundreds of times greater than their original design capabilities.
