Questions for the seller
How do you like Focal's compared to GX100's? I own Monitor Audio Gold GS60 towers and GSLCR. Dave
I own both the GX-100's and the Focal 1008BE's. I am selling both (I haven't listed the BE's, yet), in order to purchase either the Monitor Platinum PL-200's or the Sonus Faber Olympica II's. As I'm sure you know, one should purchase any piece of gear in order to create a system that creates the particular sound that one prefers. I am a Quad and Magnepan fan only not owning them now as, sadly, I don't currently have the space. After about a year, I just find the Focals rather fatiguing. Very clear and detailed but just fatiguing. The Monitor's have a ribbon tweeter, and they come closer to the clean, clear top end that I prefer. Perhaps, they are a tad mellow, but I own a variety of Prima Luna amps, so they balance out with the slightly dry sound (again producing a balance) of my amps nicely. I am really on the fence about PL-200 vs Olympica. Silly as it sounds, I've never owned a pair of Sonus Faber's, so I may just try them out. I keep gear for at least a year, as I don't believe in the quick turnaround or impressions garnered in dealer soundrooms.
