KEF LS50 MONITOR SPEAKERS IN MINT CONDITION

AND A CUSTOM PAIR OF HYPEX NCORE NC400 AMPLIFIER MOUNTING PLATES

BUILT ONTO THE REAR OF A PAIR OF BLACK ALIGATOR SPEAKER STANDS

(these stands are ideally sized for the KEF LS50's)

- You'd be crazy not to purchase these speakers and stands together since you won't be able to obtain stands like these anywhere and if you built them, your cost would be much much higher and time involved considerable. However, I will sell the speakers separate without the stands -

HERE'S WHAT I HAVE FOR SALE:

I recently purchased a pair of KEF LS50 speakers to develop a new amplifier/bookshelf stand concept that I've been working on. Check the net for reviews about the KEF LS50. They are one of the best speakers ever built for the most affordable price. And . . . they look stunning particularly sitting on top of the black aligator stands I'm also selling. For sale here are two items:

1. A pair of KEF LS50 monitors in mint condition - these speakers are like new and were purchased only to obtain dimensions and use for the design of my first prototype stands. I've rated them 9 out of 10 since I've removed them from their original boxes and played them for a number of hours while I perfected my stand design. The speakers will include original shipping boxes, original manual and items included from KEF, and shipping to anywhere in the Continental US. I paid $1,604.99 (incl sales tax) from KEF Direct and am the original owner. They have been stored in a smoke free, pet free, home and are in like new condition.

My selling price is $1,200 firm (pair of speaiers only) plus I'll pay ground shipping cost to you. You pay PayPal fee but can send me a check and save 3.5%. I'll pay Audiogon fee of 2%.

2. A prototype speaker stand with Hypex NCore NC400 mono amplifier 1/4" aluminum mounting plates bolted to the rear of the stands. These stands will become a commercial product kit that I will be selling with CNC'd 1/4" aluminum amplifier chassis and directions for building the kit. I do not want to get involved with shipping large and heavy finished speaker stands and am selling the current stands as last ones in this size. These stands will work perfectly with the KEF LS50 since they've been designed to match the size of KEFs seated on the stands. I'm now building an alternative prototype stand for other size speakers and will announce my commercial kits once they have been completed over the next few months.

Here are the stand dimensions:

7 7/8" wide by 8 1/4" deep by 25 3/4" without the 1 1/2" solid walnut bases. With bases, the stand measures 27 1/4".

My basic material cost for these stands is as follows:

a. Hand cut and hand drilled 1/4" aluminum rear mounting plate for each speaker that will hold a full Hypex NCore NC400 amplifier modules and power supply plus speaker binding posts, XLR jack, on/off switch, IEC inlet module, and a 3/8" LED indicator. The aluminum cost me $90.70

b. MDF 3/4" cabinet walls with 3/8" doweled joints. MDF cost m = $38.

c. A piece of 3/4" Wenge for the tops of both speakers stands. My cost = $68.

d. A pair of 1 1/2" solid clear walnut in butcher block format to eliminate warpage for stands. My cost = $123

e. Rockler threaded inserts (8) for mounting amp plates and (8) for mounting speaker stand feet. My cost = $31.09

f. Black aligator tolex covering for both speaker stands $40/yd x 2 yds + shipping) = $95

g. 8 stainless steel bolts (plus washers & nuts) for mounting base, 8 stainless steel bolts for mounting amp plates = $20

h. Tolex adhesive = $20

TOTAL MATERIAL COST = $395.09

I will sell these stands for $500 plus packaging cost (estimated around $50 to $75) plus actual shipping. This is an incredible deal since I've spent close to 100 hours perfecting this design and have built other stands that were abandoned during construction. I'll also support you in your building the NCore amps on the included mounting plates. Let me know if you are interested and we'll work out the details.

(Also, if you're interested, I can supply the binding posts, XLR connectors, LEDs, on/off switch, IEC modules but cannot discount them. I pay what you pay if your purchase them online so I'll be glad to share part numbers and sources instead. If you're interested, I would be glad to build out the NCore amps and supply them ready to use but you would need to purchase the amps and power supplies from Hypex and have them shiped to me. I'll charge you a reasonable fee to build the amps and ship the amps and stands as complete units. Your choice.

MORE ABOUT ME

I've been building amplifiers and speakers for many years while pursing both the high efficiency low power route and ending up realizing the low efficiency high power route is better and easier to live with. While having the opportunity to build, tweak, and design many audio projects, I've gradually gravitated to liking high end bookshelf monitors more than floorstander designs. The quality of the midrange and high frequencies are better and I'm able to play at whisper volumes all the way to levels that I shouldn't be listening to. My company name is AumAcoustics and you can find an initial page on the internet (does not include information about this speaker stand project) if you add the dot com ending. Send me a PM if you are interested in any or all of what I'm selling here and I'll be glad to share more about this project in greater detail.
