We are glad to offer Wywires to the AudiogoN community. Wywires is a relatively new company started by an audiophile who has studied for 10 years before bringing his cables to market. They are all hand made in California by Alex, who owns the company. They are unique in many ways but the use of custom litz cable and an air dielectric are the two things that really set them apart.

WyWires products produce natural textures with strong leading edges, while at the same time taking away the grungy, metallic annoyances. The cables offer:

There are 3 series of cables. Blue, Silver and Platinum. All the cables share the same design principles of air, cotton and PTFE Teflon dielectrics along with their proprietary Litz wire formula. Blue vs Silver
– The Blue is the least expensive cable but nowhere near entry level. It is a trickle down design that takes the key element of the Silver but utilizes less costly components and a more economical assembly process. Although the conductors in the Blue and Silver are Litz, the actual configuration of Litz wire is different in the two product lines, where Blue uses a much less expensive combination of Litz wire than the Silver. Additional differences include the RCA and XLR connectors along with the outer sheathing. Blue uses Cardas RCA’s and Neutric XLR’s whereas the Silver uses the much more costly Xhadow connectors. The double outer sheathing in the Silver series is also more costly and offers a more luxurious “look and feel” than the single sheathing in the Blue. In sonic terms, both share a common signature discussed above but the silver offers a more refined sound with enhanced soundstage and image precision. How big the differences are really depends on the customer’s system. In a moderate system with a value of less than $10,000, the Blue is an excellent choice and will allow those components to perform at their optimum level. In a very revealing and expensive system, the differences will be more apparent as a more refined and clear representation of the recording with more details and a bigger, more intimate experience. Silver vs Platinum
–The Platinum series are the newest
cables in the WyWires lineup (as of 2013.) Platinum is a newly
developed series that takes most of the elements of the Silver and adds
additional conductor material of varying gauges of Litz wire to accomplish the
goals of higher bandwidth and greater frequency extension especially at the low
end of the spectrum with increased dynamic range and “slam”.  In addition,
the Platinum adds greater dimensional information along with more separation of
instruments and performers within the soundstage. Identified by brilliant white
outer sheathing/sparkling silver under layer.

The Silver on the other hand, is dressed in light grey with a sparkling silver under layer visible. Sonically, the Platinum offers a significant improvement over the Silver in all parameters including detail retrieval, clarity, presence, image focus.
