The series 5 upgrade was the result of an extensive design effort led by David Wilson himself out of loyalty to Wilson clients who purchased the X1, providing them an upgrade path that achieves perfomance of the X2 (Alexandrias). It is an almost complete speaker re-design and involves replacement of all but the bass modules. The three top modules are completely replaced with new Alexandria-like cabinets, crossovers, drivers, ect. The upgrade cost 25k, which is actually pretty reasonable considering you got an essentially new speaker that competes with the 160k Alexandria.
