These Thiel CS2 speakers in BLACK Finish were traded in.

The CS2 is one of the most highly reviewed speakers ever made. You probably already knew that!

On this speaker, both the tweeter and midrange are carefully phase aligned to give amazing imaging and clarity.

They remind me of the famous Dahlquist DQ10 speakers, but, being slim, they have a much higher spouse approval factor, and they don’t need a lot of power to drive them, unlike the older Dahlquists.

The combination of a powerful woofer magnet and a very lightweight but rigid cone yields VERY clear bass.

The front baffle of the speaker is quite thick, and sounds like a rock when you tap it.

In most speakers, the thickness of the wood frame of the grill, being close to the driver, causes at least a little reflection of highs, which means that the sound now has TWO paths to your ear.

The first sound to arrive at your ear is direct sound, and the second is the sound that bounced off the grill…this is delayed slightly in time. We hear direction of sound by time delays (if you hear the same sound in one ear after the other ear, we know the sound is from “off center”).

Reflected sound will throw off our ability to hear where the sound is coming from, and ruins the precise “imaging” that these speakers are famous for.

In the CS2, the grill is part of the design of the front baffle, and should always stay on. With the CLOTH grills installed, listening to these speakers is like hearing the entire orchestra laid out in space with each instrument in a precise position, and without any sense of “speaker boxes” reproducing the sound.

It’s quite amazing.

These are perfect speakers for anyone who does NOT want to hear two speaker boxes in their room…instead you hear the width and depth of the full orchestra, with the instruments “floating in space”, like a live performance.

They do particularly well with piano music and vocals…really tough tests for any speaker.

The speakers stand about 40 inches high, and are about 13 wide x 13 deep.

The connections are on the bottom, so they look great even in the middle of a room.

It would be hard to imagine anyone not being very happy with the sound of these speakers, especially with our low reserve of $388.00 for the pair!

Due to the fact that these must be for local pickup only in New York City, and the fact that this narrows our customer base significantly, we have set the reserve to be irresistibly low to appeal to someone local…even someone who thought they could never afford a pair of these.

THE BAD NEWS: Since these will be picked up at the store, we MUST charge sales tax regardless of what state YOU live in.

THE GOOD NEWS: We are only a short distance from Katz’s Deli. Once you get a taste of their corned beef sandwich and pickled tomatoes you will forget about having to pay the sales tax.

No spikes come with these nor are any needed for great sound. They are very bottom heavy.
