Reference 3A Grand Veena Loudspeakers

PRICE NOW DROPPED TO $2300! This is a set of the original version of Reference 3A Grand Veena loudspeakers in Cherry finish. They are the ones with the famous Murata gold-colored super-tweeter that has now been discontinued in favor of a new Beryllium tweeter. I have not heard the newer model at this point but I can definitely state that with the combination of 3A’s excellent soft-dome tweeter and the Murata unit the highs on this set of Grand Veenas are extended and sweet and grainless. This set have been my main demo speakers in my Hollywood showroom for some years now, and last year, after having some issues with overload of the midrange/upper bass when driven at very high levels, I commissioned Tash Goka of 3A to fashion me a custom (very gentle and of premium parts) high-pass filter to fit in-line with the main carbon-fiber (previously w/o any crossover) driver to allow it greater power handling. I wired the filters into the speakers with 15 gauge Furutech OCC Single-Crystal copper wire (their best) and, after I allowed for several hours of break in, I listened critically to the system and determined that not only have the speakers never sounded better overall, with midrange textures that were positively addictive to listen to, but now exhibited far greater prowess in the rendering of dynamic contrasts and subtleties, as well as having the ability to withstand far greater dynamic impacts from such things as orchestral bass drums, rock electric bass and kick-drum hits, and just about anything else that I could throw at them. The speakers simply sound stunning and work quite well with both tubes (I used a current set of ASL Hurricane 200 wpc mono amps) and solid-state (I used several Plinius amps of about 200 wpc or so...) amplification. Because of age and a few very minor dings from handling over the years, I am rating the speakers at 7/10. They present more like an easy 8; they have been well-cared for. Sound quality is a 10. If you have ever heard 3A speakers, these are at the top echelon of the line over the years. As I mentioned above, I have not heard the newer models that 3A sells in the Nextel finishes, which feature some very different design parameters, but this set plays all kinds of music very convincingly, with great beauty and dynamic expression. The speakers are bi-wired and will require bi-wired cables or single-wire cables with a set of good jumpers. I will ship them to the lower 48 states and Canada in the original boxes on a pallet only, as they need special handling to withstand shipping rigors. This means that they will come to the buyer on a pallet in a truck with a lift gate to deliver them in the easiest manner. Shipping costs will be a bit higher than for a small set of lesser speakers but my trucking company has very fair rates. I am not inclined to ship these speakers overseas, but if a buyer is serious it can be worked out. I accept cash, personal checks (must clear first) or Paypal. Paypal users will need to add 3% to the final price. These speaker retailed for $8000 when new. I am asking $2300 for the set plus shipping. Remember that I recently added the new midrange driver with the high-pass filter, which was about $800 my cost. They do come with the original carpet spikes. These speakers play better than new.
