The SC-III.A was the final version of Dunlavy’s 3-way, downward-firing woofer design, which began life as the Athena, was re-named the Aletha, then in a new cabinet as the Cantata and finally in the traditional Dunlavy rectagular tower as the III.A. I purchased this pair as completely fresh, new old stock in March, 2010, directly from factory storage in Colorado. I can see no scratches or blemishes on this pair at all save for a small scuff on one of legs. Over time, the cherry finish has become deeper, richer and more refined looking. They're gorgeous. I have used them in my living room continuously since purchase and always without their grill covers, which have never been removed from the protective plastic. The speakers normally attached to wooden plinths that sit on the floor or carpet. A couple of years ago, I replaced the plinths with Soundocity Stands, which provide a little more stability and the benefit of spiked coupling to the floor. Using slightly longer bolts than those that attach the stock plinths, the Soundocity units are attached to the same mounting holes as the plinths. No new drilling or modification of any kind. I will include the Soundocity units and additional hardware for an extra $150 (they will need to ship in a separate box). One thing: I removed a mounting screw from one of the midrange units as I was going to try to locate brass replacement screws. I lost it, so there is one missing midrange screw. I have the original boxes and they are in good shape. Prefer local pickup at this price. Buyer pays all shipping charges and 3% PayPal fee.
