With some reluctance, I am re-offering a beautiful pair of Daedalus
Ulysses Ver2 speakers. I have reduced the Reserve a bit.
These speakers are solid Maple, which is a $900 upgrade, and were
updated to Version 2 status by Lou in December of 2013. I have not
installed the new trim rings Lou has made available. The speakers original vintage is late 2010.
They come with the standard bases and Daedalus outriggers. I had an extra pair of
bases made that are 8.5" high, as opposed to the standard 4.5" and these
are now included. The taller bases raise the center of the two tweeters to about ear level and are constructed of layers of solid maple and walnut. They cost me $450 to have made by a local Asheville, NC based woodworker.
The speakers are in like new condition, with the normal variations in wood that are common with Daedalus speakers. They are very sensitive, but can take a lot of power. Feed them properly and they will reward you with sound quality that is the best I've lived with among commercially available speakers. In my opinion, they sound much more natural than speakers from the heavily advertised manufacturers we read about in the stereo publications. Of course, looks are subjective, but they are unique in their construction and everybody that has seen them, loves the way they look.
I have driven them with Rogue Audio Apollo Dark's, Rogue Cronos Magnum and Plinius SA 103 and SA 50, both in Mk III editions. All drive them with aplomb.
I also have a matching pair of Maple Daedalus BOW subs Lou made
for me several years ago. Instead of the single 12" driver Lou now uses
now, these use two 12" identical drivers per cabinet. I am using these, as they
are fast and blend well with the custom speakers I made. I really do not want to part with the subs, but I guess they could be made available for the right buyer. They are not included as a part of this auction.
The 8/10 rating is for age and the speakers are as I received them back from Lou upon the V2 upgrade. If you are interested in the trim rings and new bass drivers, please contact Lou directly. I have the original Daedalus boxes, which are the dimensions shown for shipping purposes.
Before Lou starts selling through dealers, from Daedalus pricing, the cost new of what I am offering would be $17,450. With the extra set of taller bases, $17,900.
I am not interested in trades and please add actual PayPal fees.
I will be traveling out of the country from 8/1-8/10 with limited access to e-mail.
Thanks for looking.
