Ultra Fi ATTENTION TRANQUILITY OWNERS TWIN REG Upgrade

Offered for sale is the TWIN REG upgrade for the Tranquility and Tranquility Signature model DACs that I designed for dB Audio Labs. The TWIN REG was developed in the course of the Ultra Fi DAC-41 but was done in such a manner that it applies equally well to the Tranquility DACs - the Tranquility, Tranquility Signature, and the DAC-41 all use the same DAC chip.

The TWIN REG replaces the two stages of power regulation normally supplying the DAC chip in the Tranquility with a discrete surface mount regulator design carried on a a small 1/2" wide by 1-1/2" tall circuit board that mounts in a TO-247 position. The TWIN REG solders into the TO-247 position used by the 12 volt regulator on the board much like RF devices are mounted in cellular telephone amplifiers. This extends the grounded plane from the board and allows for a two sided circuit board arrangement for the TWIN REG in an extremely compact design. The pictures show the error amplifier side of the board with multiple transistors in matched packaging (these are not op amps) and the pass element side of the board with the voltage reference LEDs.
