Bel Canto Design DAC1 Ace Tomato Audio Statement Level Upgrade

Update.

Discovered the matching .1 (as in DAC1.1) power supply for this unit (picture 16). This power supply uses the toroidal Talema power transformers for even quieter operation and is included. Buyer can specify which they want installed. This power supply can have a selectable 120/240V switch installed or can have Kimber wire soldered for permanent voltage selection (same as on the currently installed power supply board). Buyer can also specify whether the power wires to the DAC board get soldered in for best sound (WBT 0800 silver solder), get converted over to the connector that plugs into the .1 power supply board or can have the screw terminal connectors from the original power supply added, so original and .1 power supplies can be swapped back and forth.

The nicest DAC1 ever made, bar none. 1 of 1 ever built. This is a hand built from scratch DAC1 with the best parts available and all WBT 0800 silver solder. This is very different than a modified unit as no parts were ever removed from the board. Step 1 to this build was to have all surface mount parts professionally soldered. This is the only step in the build I didn't do myself as I felt the 6 figure soldering machines used for surface mount work could do a better job than I could by hand (easily proven if looked at under a microscope). Once delivered to me in its ESD bag I went to work installing the best parts I could find and fit on the board. This includes Nichicon MUSE electrolytic caps, Panasonic PPS film caps, Panasonic HFQ electrolytic caps, Wima 2.5% plastic film caps, Caddock 1% resistors, Crystal CS8420 rev E sample rate converter (revs A-D have a high frequency dropout glitch), BB PCM 1704K matched pair DAC chips, BB OPA627 matched pair op amps, BB OPA2134 matched pair op amps, Schottky high speed diodes, all Kimber wiring (also used for voltage selection instead of the bad sounding 120/240 switch), careful chassis and circuit board damping with EAR products and a one of a kind double gold name badge chassis. Very few parts on this unit are anything close to what came in a factory DAC1. Many values are chosen to improve over stock as well (power supply caps are 3x Panasonic 4700uF HFQ's and stock is 3x Panasonic 2200uF M series). Lots more examples like this exist on this unit.
