I’m selling a very unique brand new dual DC power supply. This unit has a single 12VDC output (500mA maximum) to power an appropriate 12VDC DAC and a 5VDC USB in and USB out output (500mA maximum) to clean USB power coming from a computer or audio server.

Basically, you connect the USB cable from your computer or sever to the USB input of this dual power supply. You then connect a 2nd USB cable from the power supply’s USB out connector and connect that to either your USB connection on your DAC or ideally to a high quality USB to SPIDF converter and then to your DAC. The two converters that work perfectly with this solution are the Audiphilleo (both models) or the SOTM converter. Both do not require an output greater than 500mA.

The 12VDC output is used to power your DAC component (either a DSPeaker Dual Core, a Chord Hugo, or equivalent).

I sized the incredibly robust 1/8” aircraft aluminum chassis (with ½” extruded vibration ribs) to match the footprint of the DSPeaker Dual Core room correction/DAC component. The Dual Core and my dual power supply have an identical footprint: (9.25″ wide x 5.75″ deep) and can be stacked one on the other if you like.

DUAL CORE – SOTM USB CONVERTER – AUM ACOUSTICS DUAL POWER SUPPLY SOLUTION

Because the Dual Core only has an optical input (in addition to its much lower quality USB input) I found the best optical USB converter to be made by SOTM. It is the ultimate converter to substantially increase the sound quality of the Dual Core unit.

However, my favorite USB to SPIDF converter is actually the Audiophilleo but it does not have an optical out. So for the Dual Core, the SOTM converter and my dual 12VDC/5VDC power supply provides an ideal and incredible improved sound quality substantially over just using the stock wall wart supply and the USB port input connection.

DSPEAKER DUAL CORE PROBLEMS

I have had serious problems with Tim Ryan at Simplifi Audio and will never order anything from him again. He is the North American distributor for DSpeaker! He also has taken over $13,000 of my hard earned money and run off with it. I have a court judgement against him and find his business practices lacking to say the least. Here’s a link to my webpage that describes the problems I’ve had with him. I definitely would not recommend that anyone order a DSPeaker Dual Core from this guy just to use my dual power supply. Be very careful here:

CHORD HUGO – AUDIOPHILLEO – AUM ACOUSTICS DUAL POWER SUPPLY SOLUTION

I also use the Audiophilleo and a Chord Hugo with this same dual power supply and receive a superb increase in audio quality.

FINE PRINT

Please realize that some components require a power supply with a higher output (i.e. 1 amp or more) and you cannot use this power supply on those kinds of components. If you purchase this dual power supply, please check the requirements of the components you desire to power with my unit. If you don’t, you could “fry” this power supply if you connect it to power hungry DC components!

This is one of the finest 500mA max output dual power supplies made. It sounds better than the dual power supply built by Teddy Pardo. I purchased both the USB power and the dual 12V power supply built by Teddy Pardo to make a direct comparison. For components that require 500mA or less output, the Aum Acoustics power supply sounds better.

INCLUDED CABLE

I use a Switchcraft DC power connector on the rear of this dual power supply. The power jack is threaded and required the matching Switchcraft plug. I provide a power cable with this plug on one end and the other end is terminated with a molded 2.1mm male power connector. This connector fits the DC jack on the DSPeaker Dual Core, the Chord Hugo, and numerous other DC components. However, you might find the need for a different termination plug style. If so, snip (or have someone else do the simple modification) the molded male plug off from the end of this cable and re-terminate with your desired connector.

I do not include a cheap power cord with this unit. A decent low cost audiophile quality power cord (or better) will make a positive increase in sound quality and I don’t believe in including the poor sounding $5 cables that our industry uses. Use a cable you already have or purchase a low cost good quality power cable (your choice).

Because I’m selling this unit with no markup for labor or profit, you are purchasing it “as is”. I warranty that it will work out of the box but I cannot be responsible if you damage either power supply by connecting it to a power hungry component that requires more than 500mA output. I can, however, rebuild either power supply or both if necessary and will be glad to do so if needed but at actual parts cost. I do have spare parts in stock to build another full power supply. Once again, I won’t charge for labor if you screw up. The chassis that I use is incredibly robust and this power supply should last for many years and provide excellent use.

PAYMENT

I will accept PayPal for this purchase but this will probably be the last time I use PayPal. I've had poor experience with this company and will be switching to Stripe in the future for credit card transactions!
