I am the original owner and I bought this DAC new and fully assembled in August of 2014. It's still in like-new condition, the build quality is professional, and it comes with a nice set of NOS tubes. Even though the DAC in its stock form is very impressive and a fantastic value, I upgraded the line board film capacitors to Duelund CAST PIO Copper capacitors a couple of months ago.
After switching to the Duelunds, I am amazed at the difference they make in sound quality; they deserve all the high praise that they receive. This really is an excellent DAC and it is also great for anyone interested in getting into the DIY audiophile world. The open and uncluttered design of the DAC makes working with it rather simple and one could have a lot of fun experimenting with different resistors, capacitors, etc. Or, one could leave it the way it is and simply enjoy the music.
