This is an exceptional sounding redbook and SACD player. It is also a superb DVD player although I never used it as such. As with all the universal Esoteric players, you can shut off the video circuitry to assure optimal audio performance. The UZ-1 uses Esoteric's VSOP transport and disc clamp mechanism for the most accurate data read from the media.
This player has some light scuffing on the top where other components were placed. There are also three circles left by AQ Sorbothane pucks. These are very, very light and I'm unable to get a picture of them. I have the box and packing as well as the leather backed remote control that Esoteric provides with their upper models.
