For sale here is a rare opportunity to purchase a good condition Cary CD-308T cd player with Burr Brown chipset and HDCD decoding. Dennis Had said this was the finest CD player that Cary ever produced, which included his variable output analog section. It's not in perfect condition, there are a few minor surface scratches on the top and the Open/Close button has been well-used and some of the paint on that button has worn a little bit. Included and installed is a pair of recently purchased Platinum Grade matched Cifte 12AU7 tubes from Upscale Audio ($120 value, recommended by Kevin). Also included is the factory Sylvania JAN tubes if you're interested in tube-rolling. Everything works, no issues. I don't have the original box, but I do have the manual and remote as shown. It will be packed carefully and professionally to arrive in the same condition that it ships. Conservatively rated at 7/10 due to age. I'll cover the PayPal fees, you cover the shipping.
From the Cary promotional literature:
You have a powerful desire to have a warm sounding CD player with vacuum tubes in the output section. Well, we have an answer for that! Meet the CD-308T player. We bring the analog signal out of the Burr Brown DAC and take it straight into a gain stage/buffer amp output section with a pair of 12AU7 dual triode vacuum tubes. There are no transistors or IC chips in the analog output section, this is pure vacuum tube sound. A large C-Core power transformer and remote variable volume control are still standard! Black faceplate.
