In Sept 2012 I paid Cambridge Audio's US Warranty / Service company (Audio Plus Services) $144.00 to give it a full check-up. It has a clean bill of health. I went ahead and had them replace the CD drawer belt, a "470uf 35Vdc" capacitor, and perform a much needed software update as well as modifications according the Cambrudge Audio service bulletin at the time. As i stated the unit has a clean bill of health and functions perfectly. The serial number is 07030155 and the "Audio Plus Services" work order number was "RAAPS13283"

 It has many features; most notably two digital inputs which allow you to use the player as a DAC for another digital source like a DAB tuner, for example. The player also features upsampling, to an unusually high 24 bit lat 384 kHz. The upsampling technology was developed in cooperation with Anagram Technologies of Switzerland and is the same as is used in the more expensive 840c player. The 740 uses twin Wolfson WM8740 DAC chips.
