Due to a change of priorities I am reluctantly offering for sale my most prized piece of audio equipment, the ultra-rare Lyra Olympos moving coil phono cartridge. I am the second owner of this peerless transducer having snapped it up originally on audiogon with only a handful of hours on the clock.

During my tenure it has seen action in the following tonearms: Graham Phantom Supreme, Brinkmann Audio 12.1, and Acoustical Solutions Axiom. In each case the overhang and alignment was performed using a UNI-Protractor. I would estimate the use at around 200 hours on records which had been cleaned on a Keith Monks RCM using Audio Intelligent vinyl solutions.

The dust guard paper which covers the generator mechanism is still like knew. The cantilever is perfectly straight and the stylus is crystal clear (cleaned periodically using an Audio Technica AT-637). Please do not ask me to compare this cartridge to the latest offerings from Lyra since outside of hearing the Atlas, in a system which is very different to mine, I do not have extensive first hand experience in my own system. My friend in Germany has conducted these experiments so a search of the various forums here on audiogon should be enlightening.

The specifications are published on the Lyra website (do a google search). The key points are an output of 0.3 mV, an internal impedance of 5.5 ohms, and a total weight of 13.5 grams.

Only about 65 of these cartridges are in existence, this one is number 048. If you wanted a new one built today then you would first need to source an original Lyra Parnassus Blue Body cartridge on the used market to act as the donor for the now "unobtanium" iron-cobalt magnet.

Questions will be answered promptly and to the best of my ability. Low ball offers will be ignored. My asking price is firm and fair given the rarity of this cartridge.

Worldwide shipping via trackable registered post (buyer picks up the tab). Payment by PayPal attracts a surcharge of 4% on the buyer's end. Happy to receive other forms of safe payment on negotiation.
