Aric Audio 2A3, 45, 46 Single-ended Amplifier

For sale, my much loved Aric Audio Super 2A3/45/46 SET amplifier. I’m selling only because I recently received my Aric Audio Super 300B amplifier and can’t really use two primary amplifiers.

A little background, for years my all time favorite SET output tubes have been the 46, 2A3, and 45 in that order. The 46 just has a special mid-range tone that I have not found in any other tube. I had owned Aric preamps previously and he was in fact building me a Super 6SN7 Linestage. I approached Aric and asked if he would be able and interested in an upgrade to his Super 2A3 SET to accommodate the 46. He not only could do it but did in fact build that amplifier for me and I took delivery in June 2023.

It is a fantastic amplifier and more than met my expectations. It is a gorgeous two chassis amplifier encased in black walnut. Is sounds even better than it looks. It sounds wonderful with all three tube types, but especially with 46s. The amp uses a single 6SL7 running is SRPP mode, coupled to a pair of 6SN7 drivers. The 45s and 2A3s share the 4 pin socket and there are separate sockets for the 5 pin 46s. A switch on the top switches to either 2A3 or 45/46.

Being a SET amplifier, it does require high efficiency speakers of 95dB and up. The amp has both 4Ω & 8Ω speaker taps.

As this hobby goes, a friend bought a 300B and raved about the tone and overall sound. He had owned 46 amps in the past and he described the 300B as the 46 on steroids. That intrigued me and I contacted Aric about building me one of his Super 300B SET, which brings me back to my reason for selling the 2A3/45/46. I took delivery of the 300B about six weeks ago and just now have reluctantly decided to give up the 2A3/45/46.
