What a Find!

Professionally restored Garrard 401 - includes plinth, tonearm, cartridge, and Cardas cable - fresh build and unused!

Renowned Garrard specialist Audio Grail in the UK recently restored this 401 core.

The build features a 4" thick CNC cut plinth with ebony veneer and a three-coat polished lacquer finish. Styled with a new GrooveMaster II 12" silver tonearm (with sliding base) and SPU #1-E cartridge. (the ideal arm and cartridge combo, and a favorite of Garrard builder Artisan Fidelity). A 1.5M Cardas tonearm cable, installed Keystrobe light 'pulser,' and natural cork/rubber feet complete the build. The components were carefully curated to work in harmony with each other.

I had the Garrard specialist, Audio Grail, completely overhaul the 401 core by disassembling, refinishing, and carefully reassembling. The Garrard tech ran the core unit and tested it before it was packed and shipped to me from Europe.

*** Note: The table speed needs adjustment and final calibration for 33 rpm. (currently set at 45 rpm) A copy of the Garrard 401 manual will be included with the procedure instructions. (I have no way to calibrate because I no longer have a phono pre) To describe the current state, the table has a manual dial on the top surface to toggle between 33 and 45 rpm. The fine speed adjustment dial to the left of that dial to adjust the speed in fine increments does not adjust to spec for both 33 and 45 rpm (when switching back and forth using the hand dial). At 33 rpm, it runs slightly fast or slow (I don't recall). As mentioned, a copy of the Garrard 401 manual will be included with the procedure instructions, or you can contact someone familiar with Garrard to adjust the internal calibration screw(s) so the table will be able to play both 45 and 33 rpm at spec speeds. This calibration detail needs to be completed before the build is finished. ***

Why am I selling? Unfortunately, I committed an audiophile sin. I brought this beauty to our home and never completed the vinyl system installation. The wife shakes her head and says to rehome all the gear I don't use. Okay, fine, it will go to a good home. : )

Gorgeous, ebony figure, sexy curves, and luxurious finish - we've received countless compliments from guests visiting our home.

Yours for $4,998, with $149 shipping in the contiguous US!

It will be double-boxed for shipping, and the tonearm and cartridge will be detached and packed in the factory boxes.

Enjoy the music, my friend.
