Description

While the Era Design 4 is a fantastic speaker for its price and size, I have moved to the B&W 805s as they are just better overall. I use this setup for music listening as well as tracking and mixing my own music.

Taterworks,

It's been awhile since I posted that about my son. He's in masters program now at Texas Tech (on Deans list!) and has followed his old dad in appreciating analog.

Now running a Technics 1200 with ADC XLM cartridge into a Sherwood powering JBL 4311 monitors.

I gave him a lot of my back up LPs, including Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Sonny Clark, and Duke Ellington.

Albert -- I'll bet your son would be surprised at how much better a pair of good micro two-ways (like the Era, but there are others from Dayens, Amphion, and others) would sound when driven from an inexpensive Class-T amplifier like the powerful-for-its-size Dayton DTA-100 (50W/ch). The above setup looks like a high-water mark, and it's very close to what I'm personally aiming for with my next desktop sound upgrade.

My son is experimenting with Linux, thinks it's great. He's in his second year of college, going to Texas Tech.

He choose the Logitech Z-5500 system, we found a new one at Ebay for less than $200.00. Good for a computer system and his limited budget.

I do Linux code for a living, so I spend 8-12 hours a day at this desk.

System edited: Added a picture of the desk. I built the desk myself and am still cleaning up the wiring and such.

System edited: Finally replaced my B&W LM-1/AS-1 HK-3480 setup with something a bit more pleasing. I am truly impressed with these era speakers for the size.
