Up for sale is my beautiful, original, unmodified pair of Quad ESL-57's. ZERO ISSUES and they play perfectly.
To answer what seems to be asked a LOT - they sound fantastic and magical - and exactly as they should. No degradation of sound - nothing wrong - and I have listened to a LOT of quads - these are as good as it gets. Original does not, in this rare case, mean 'needy' or 'old'. In this case it means 'amazing'.
I am selling part of a project I need to abandon (Garrard 401, etc..) and these are a sad pair to part with – I looked LONG AND HARD to find such a beautiful pair. I rejected many many quads before buying these.
I purchased them from a gentleman who was the second owner, he was friends with the first owner and knew the speakers since new.
The speakers have perfect black metal grills with no dents or nicks. One speaker is absolutely mint while the other has slight scrapes on the wood sides (see photos). These are easily fixed – I did not do that yet as the system was a project and I was not yet at that stage.
The speakers have serial numbers 52878 and 52876. Manufacture date is 1982.
The speakers have replacement power cords that appear to be made from Kimber cable with hospital grade receptacles – they are great and an improvement form original.
They come with the original wood feet, and replacement original boxes from QS&. In other words, they have original boxes (which aren't cheap).
This pair has no operational issues, to my knowledge it has never been arced or had any problems at all. They have been FLAWLESS for me; they have all the quad magic you could ever want - and perform perfectly.
They are true audio classics, and I would love to keep them, but I simply do not have the space and had to give up my project system...a pity.

Pictures are NOT beauty shots intentionally - they are taken to show any flaws - of which there are few and can seen in the detail pics.
