This auction is for a NEW UNUSED Infinity Black Widow Tone Arm. I am the original owner. It has never been out of the packing.

I have thought many times of installing it but have always resisted the temptation. I believe that the tone arm is worth far more to a collector than to someone who wants to install it in a turntable. That said, the ultra-low mass makes it a perfect match for any ultra-high compliance cartridge (think ADC XLM). I hope this goes to a collector who will keep it as is but the winning bidder is, of course, free to use it however he or she pleases.

Used Black Widows in excellent condition are listed for $799.00 and up. This may be the only one in the world that is unused and still in its factory packing. Even the cartridge attachment screws remain in the original plastic envelope. All of the original paperwork is included, instructions, warranty card, etc.

One eagle-eyed observer said there should be a small screwdriver and bottle of silicon damping fluid in the box. I don't remember them but assuming he/she is correct and they should be in there, maybe I took them out somewhere along the line and used them. If so, I might have it knocking around somewhere. If anybody has a picture of what it they look like, I'll see if they look familiar and if they do maybe I can find them. The screwdriver I might have, the silicon damping fluid doesn’t sound familiar at all.

The fact remains that the tone arm is brand new and has never been removed from the packaging. If you feel the little screwdriver or bottle/syringe detracts from the value then by all means refrain from bidding. This is not for you.

Further photos are available and I might entertain a trade or partial trade for a very good used tone-am/cartridge of similar quality. I need a tone arm but do not want to make this one a used tone arm. I also would consider an even-up trade for an ARC tube Pre Amp or Power Amp of similar value. I'll pay shipping CONUS, but If you want to use PayPal, I'd like to reimbursed for their cut. Personal checks are fine.. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Questions for the seller
Amazing how this became a "collector" piece and has risen so much in value - I bought one of these in 1977 for its then current MSRP of $200 !
I am assuming that someone would want to have an original unused arm for display. My assumption may be wrong. What you paid in 1977 is as relevant as the price of anything else in 1977. That said, I find myself at a loss to understand why you feel the need to waste your time posting comments on what "Amazes" you. Please ignore my postings in the future.
The silicone fluid which was pointed out as missing from this package is actually a crucial component to this arm's function, as vertical movement is accomplished utilizing a gravity-based knife-edge "bearing" - Silicone fluid in a trough near the gimbal was intended to prevent "chatter" of that bearing by creating a dampening effect. (A collector with no intention of mounting the arm should not be concerned with this.)
I agree. I don't remember the fluid but as I noted, it probably was there. This was in a display case in my store when I was in the business many many moons ago. If someone wanted to mount the arm, silicon fluid is readily available.
Well, prior to your arrogant-toned response to my initial comment, I had followed up with some useful information re: this arm. You are the "original owner" and state that "the silicon damping fluid doesn’t sound familiar at all" - Without the fluid, the arm cannot function as designed. And, per your request, I will be glad to ignore your postings in the future. Maybe others will too. At least until you move up from zero feedback ;-)
You will note that I did respond (politely and carefully, I think) to your second posting. As to my response to your first, sorry if you took offense. My experience with rare postings of items of special interest (audio & automotive) is that it elicits a flurry of know-it-all responses from people with no interest other than to parade their superior knowledge about items they are totally incapable of buying. Accordingly, I try to shut these down immediately. I believe (from your second post) that you are not one of these people and I again offer my apologies. I kept a number of items when I closed my stores and this was one of them. I also noted in my post that I believed both the fluid and screwdriver were in the box at some time. The arm sat in a display case and it is entirely possible, likely even, that either I or one of my salespeople used the screwdriver and/or fluid. Since near four decades have passed, I have no idea of the culprit. My original posting and beliefs remain; i think this, the first ultra-low mass tone arm with a resonance far below the audio spectrum, may be of value to a collector of significant audio gear or to someone with an ultra-compliant super low mass cartridge.
