Uni-Q®

KEF’s latest Uni-Q driver array is the most natural-sounding yet. The tweeter at the centre of the midrange cone now has a vented three-magnet motor system and a unique new braced dome, creating a perfectly time-aligned point source whose directivity is optimised by the reprofiled cone. As a result, dispersion is wider than ever. Power response is more uniform. Multi-channel imaging is even more stable - and stunningly realistic.

Cabinet

Precision engineered to eliminate every unwanted vibration, Reference Series cabinets are works of art in themselves. Massive internal bracing tailors the volume of each enclosure to the exact parameters of its drive unit. Extensive mechanical and acoustic damping, together with independent driver loading and KEF’s decoupling techniques, creates inert enclosures that eradicate any vestigial panel resonance, standing waves, stray reflections or box colourations.

Crossover

The Reference Series crossovers are computer modelled to optimise driver integration and response accuracy, and then fine-tuned by ear to ensure naturalness and a musically rewarding listening experience. Separate circuit boards are used wherever possible for the different frequency bands, with all components carefully laid out to minimise electro-magnetic interactions, and all boards are mechanically decoupled to isolate them from cabinet vibration. The quality of the signal path is maintained by taking advantage of the minimal losses in polypropylene capacitors and the linearity of air-cored inductors and the internal cabling is chosen for its accurate, neutral sonic character.

Faraday Rings

KEF engineers have succeeded in greatly reducing the distortions that affect moving coil drive units by adding twin, balanced, Faraday rings above and below the voice coil. The negative effects caused by flux modulation and the variation of coil inductance with position are virtually eliminated by these carefully designed, low impedance ‘shorted turns’. By generating a magnetic field that cancels the unwanted field from the voice coil, this innovation reduces harmonic distortion by as much as ten times (20dB). Extending the benefits still further, the physical prescence of the metal rings aids heat dissipation over the whole length of the voice coil, thereby improving the dynamic performance and power handling.

Is buying from an Authorized Dealer really that big of a deal? It is a huge deal, and here’s why. If you purchase a product from someone who is not an authorized dealer, you will not get a warranty period. No matter what they say, they cannot provide warranty.

Individuals selling these types of items are almost always selling “B Stock” items or those that have been refurbished and trying to sell as new. These are items that the company has deemed not good enough to send to an Authorized Dealer. There is a reason there is a discount. The chances of one of these type of products breaking is far greater than that of the “A Stock” highest quality products we offer. Couple that with no warranty and you are maximizing your risk.

What does no warranty mean? It means that if anything were to happen you are on your own. Every penny it costs to get fixed will come out of your pocket. By the time you pay to get it fixed, have to buy a new one or both, you will end up spending more money and
certainly more time than if you had purchased a legitimate product in the first place.

Need proof? Call any of the companies directly and see what they say. They usually have it plastered all over their warranty page about unauthorized selling. Don’t be fooled into thinking they won’t know either. They track every serial number on every product that is sent out and to whom it goes to. When they see that it was purchased through a non-authorized form the warranty is completely void.

Why go into detail about this? The reason for this warning and advice is to save well meaning customers from nightmares and lost money, things we have seen far too many times. We only want you to have worry about enjoying your product, not whether it will work or whether you’re covered in the event
something stops working. We are here to ensure your absolute enjoyment and proper operation of the equipment you purchase from us.

 

• The default shipping service advertised is always at no cost what-so-ever to the customer. There is also free shipping insurance provided on every order.

• Once the item has shipped, you will be provided with a tracking number & verification email for your order.

• Orders ship Monday through Friday. Our last pickup Monday thru Thursday is 3:45pm EST and Friday at 12 noon.

• We sell our items through many venues including our website and our retail showroom. There may be a very rare case where the item is out of stock for a day or two before a replenishing order arrives to catch up, but 99% of the time you will never have to worry about this, becuase we always plan ahead with our inventory.
