Immaculate Factory Matched Set (Sequential Serial Numbered) of the Top of the 600 Series B&W Line DM604 Series 3 Bi-Wire / Bi-Amp Speakers with Nautilus Tweeters and Kevlar Midranges in Highly Desirable Sorrento Finish and with Factory Shipping Boxes and Packing Inserts – MSRP $1,400!

The Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) speaker line is perhaps the most prestigious and successful loudspeaker manufacturing company in history. The Nautilus is the top of the line for B&W, but the DM Model Line is far and away the better sonic bliss for the buck from B&W. With the DM604 S3, you truly are getting everything that B&W is famous for in terms of signature sound and quality. This is a true 4-driver / 3-way system where both of the lower 7” aluminum woofers are active – there are no passive drivers. It has the same wonderful B&W sonic signature, same Nautilus tweeter as the more expensive B&W speakers, same Kevlar midrange driver, and is essentially the same speaker as the Nautilus 804 without the curvilinear cabinet and at $1,400 is $2,000 less. If you are looking for the speaker that delivers audiophile sound at an affordable cost, this is the speaker to get – as you move up the B&W product line the improvements that you gain with each incremental increase in expenditure are no longer distinct steps of higher sonic quality, but small nuances.

I have owned a number of speakers over the years that are fussy to deal with – either hard to drive, or they match up only with select amplifiers, or require exacting room placement and boundary concerns. These B&W DM 604 S3 speakers are the antithesis of the fussy speaker - they sound truly exceptional with virtually ever amp that I have thrown at them, and in almost any environment. If you are looking for that great set of speakers to start building a system around – these are the ones to get. They will sound awesome with virtually any type of amplification, and will get better as you upgrade the quality of your amplification.

The drivers on these speakers are in virtually mint condition – both cosmetically and functionally. They play as new. The lower woofer on one cabinet has some very minor stress lines on the rubber woofer surround that looks somewhat like a crackle glaze on pottery. Nothing has cracked through the actual surround material – the surround is complete and not compromised. Cosmetically, the cabinets are in truly superb condition with no significant blemishes – no dinged edges, no scrapes, no scratches, no stains with only minor scuffs on the bottom. The grills also look fantastic – they have the original fabric and one is perfect and the other has a tiny pin-hole in the top right corner – no stains, no tears, no broken grill frame elements. Note that I do not have the original gold colored shorting clips for the terminations and will supply superior sounding custom cable connectors. These speakers have been meticulously cared for their entire lives and - as you can see in the photos – they present themselves as virtually new.

Here is information from B&W:

The imposing DM604 S3 is the only full 3-way system in the range. The dedicated Kevlar® cone midrange driver is housed in its own isolated chamber within the cabinet and delivers all the nuances of the detail in the recording without the encumbrance of having to produce any bass.

Twin 180mm (7-in) aluminium cone bass drivers combine with Flowport to deliver the deepest bass frequencies with ease. Like all the vented-box systems in the range, foam plugs are supplied to block the ports should the acoustic of the listening room impose too much bass reinforcement.

Suited to larger rooms, the DM604 S3 is capable of reproducing everything from the delicate sounds of a solo performance to the complexities of a large ensemble. In combination with the LCR600 S3 centre speaker it forms the basis of a truly impressive home theatre installation.

These are one of the more popular models sold by B&W, and it is reflected by the overwhelmingly positive opinion poll on the excellent AudioReview, where 43 owner reviews garners an excellent 4.84 out of perfect 5.0
