SoundWaves Turntables (aka KlangWellen Manufaktur) is a company from Berlin, Germany with an amazing new turntable and tone arm. We are proud to introduce this turntable/tone arm to the US market.

After 8 years of development Oliver von Zedlitz, designer and owner of the company, is finally at a point where he is satisfied with every aspect of his products - the Cantano Grande Turntable and Canatano Grande Tone Arm.

Oliver also owns a manufacturing shop that builds among other things highly precise medical equipment and instruments with CNC machinery. The same precision is used to craft SoundWaves Turntables and Tone Arms. The disappointing purchase of a new turntable was the reason Oliver began thinking about developing a turntable himself. The combination of his own production capabilities, the resources available for developing a hi-fi component, plus his own ideas seemed to be good condition for the turntable project. Some of the experiments necessary to achieve the maximum sound improvements in every detail lasted for years. Many well-known audio manufacturers have emerged from highly-qualified manufacturing companies.

SoundWaves’ production operation is a prerequisite for the implementation of all ideas and performing the many experiments to optimize the sound of the turntable. With 15 employees on more than 25 machines the company makes high-precision parts for the medical-, vaccum- and analysis branches of technology. Of course, all parts of the turntable and tone arm are made by SoundWaves on CNC machines. Therefore, the precision in manufacturing the turntable and tone arm is the highest possible. For example, the hand-polished turntable bearings have a bearing clearance of 1-2 microns, the result being the best "wow and flutter" values, the best concentricity, virtually no tilting of the platter and the lowest possible noise levels.

REVIEWS:
Dirk Sommer of HiFi Statement (05/13 - the earlier version of the turntable):
"...the Klangwellen Manufaktur is a newcomer to the analog scene, but have already proved themselves with their first two products tonally as heavyweight contenders... not many other turntables and tonearms provide so much analog euphony as the two Cantanos - and if so, usually at a much higher price. The duo from Klangwellen Manufaktur is visually elegant, comes very well pre-calibrated, ready for operation without demanding anything from its owner at all. Nice that sonic excellence is not only available to banished analog specialists..."

FEEDBACK:
Jason Victor Serinus - Stereophile (California Audio Show, Aug. 2013):
"...Nice Nice Nice. So Warm. Nice Nice Nice. Absolutely captivating. Just great..."

Mal Kenney - PartTimeAudiophile.com (California Audio Show, Aug. 2013):
"...every turntable maker seems to have a problem that he wants to solve, and the Cantato’s claim to fame is, apparently, its silence. Other than perfectionist bearings, that whole, wacky platform assembly is non-optional. The unipivot arm alone is a piece of industrial art..." - "...the sound here was dead steady on Gerry Mulligan Meets Ben Webster, allowing Mulligan’s sax to growl out in a way that I associate less with speakers and more with... well... a sax." - "...for my tastes, this was one of the special rooms at the show..."
