This is my Supratek Syrah preamp and power supply which I've been using in my
main rig for many years. I purchased it new, directly from Mick at Supratek. It
is in perfect functional condition. There are a couple of very subtle minor
grazes/imperfections on the chrome which my camera really couldn't pick up, and
some marks under the units (from sitting on my using Sistrum pointed stands -
see pics) - the marks under the units obviously aren't visible during normal
use and really the preamp and power supply look pretty close to new unless
closely inspected - the units are more beautiful in person.

I recommend reviewing the "preamp deal of
the century" thread on A'gon to get a sense of just how good this unit is.
You would be very hard pressed to find anything better under $5k and it would
embarrass plenty of units north of $5k. It's stayed in my system longer than
any other piece of audio gear that I've owned as it has taken several orders of
magnitude expense to beat this unit (I purchased several more expensive line
preamps and one more expensive phono stage and resold them as they didn't beat
the Supratek).

The unit is single-ended with two sets of outputs, one MC
phono input (with four load settings) and two or three line inputs (other inputs are tape in/out).

Included are several pairs of additional 6SN7
tubes to play with for tube rolling (see picture). The two regulator tubes in
the unit are expensive KenRad black glass, and the rectifier tube in the power
supply unit is a premium Bendix tube. I can't provide any guarantees on
remaining tube life or condition but all tubes are working perfectly right now.
In my experience, the only tube which eventually requires replacement is the
single rectifier tube in the power supply and they are cheap.

Disclosure: the remote control does not work.
These remotes from Supratek only last a while and I never bothered to get a new
one. The remote function in the preamp itself is functional though, so if you
get a new remote or program a universal remote with the appropriate code, you
can then have remote volume control (you can't change input from remote, only
volume).
Marking as 7/10 because
of marks under the units and because of age, but you can see from the photos they are stunning pieces, all hand-made with point-to-point wiring. Functional
condition is absolutely perfect, no issues (other than no working remote
control).

Local audition welcome but only from serious
buyers. I've custom ordered double-wall boxes of ideal dimensions to ship in perfect condition - will ship in two boxes. Flat rate of $100 for shipping. Alternatively I can deliver the units within a 30 mile
radius of San Carlos, CA for free.
Buy with confidence from a veteran Audiogon
Member with perfect feedback. I'll take PayPal (no fee) or money order for
payment.

Questions for the seller
hello outlier, I see the bid is 896.00 I didn't think this was an auction, what is your bottom line? thanks glockman,
Hi Glockman, This is an auction, so I need to honor the bid of the highest bidder - I'm not in a position to do otherwise. If you are interested in the unit, I recommend bidding on it. Best, John
How difficult is it to get the Suprateks repaired now that the company has gone into limbo?
I'm not really sure to be honest. However, I don't think there's anything particularly complex or proprietary about the design. I would be confident that any experienced audio technician could service the unit if needed. There are a lot of owners and ex-owners of Supratek too, so I'm sure you would get plenty of suggestions and recommendations on the forums if needed.
