It has been a long love affair, but since I replaced these three years ago with amps 5X their price they have been sitting Idle with no music to make. It is time for someone else to enjoy them. These were the best amps Mike Saunders ever made. He stopped making them years ago because they cost to much to produce. He said that he didn’t want to sell amps for $10,000 a pair. Today they would be a screaming bargain at that price!! I am the original owner purchasing them from an authorized dealer. Over the years i have made numerous improvements. In 2001 I sent them back to Quicksilver to have them converted to a balanced input circuit. This involved much more than installing XLR’s, and cost $1237. In the middle 2000’s I started to collect NOS Mullard Xf2 oo getter EL34’s and when I had 14 I made the switch with two spares. I also replaced the small tubes with NOS premium types. RCA 12 FQ7 and Mullard 12AU7. I have a few spares of all the tubes and a few new stock spares too. These NOS tubes cost over $2000
A little later I changed the plastic binding posts to Cardas and had IEC inputs installed, so I could use power cords of my choosing. Recently I installed Hi Fi Tuning Supreme fuses
The amps show some signs of age, but make better music than they did before the tube swaps and upgrades. They are beautiful to look at with their classic design based on the Marantz Model 9’s, and easy to bias with turn pots under the drop down doors in the front. I have the original boxes, but would prefer a pick up because of their weight and cost to ship them. They weigh over 70 lbs packed. Paypal adds 3%
