This is a current model in Quad's Classic line. It retails for $1,250, plus $250 for the optional (and rare) phono section, which this one has. It was designed for Quad by Andy Grove of AudioNote (not the Intel guy!) which is known for its exquisite and expensive tube gear. This unit has just been serviced by another tube guru, Scott Frankland of MFA fame, who replaced some noisy parts, cleaned and calibrated everything. It is now very quiet and sounds great. I am rating it a conservative 7 because it is 10 years old, and because there is some pitting on the volume knob, which is visible in the pictures. You can use some touchup paint, get a new knob from Quad, or just ignore it. It will be double boxed for safe shipping, and while I do not have the original manual, I will include a copy. You can also download it from the Quad site. I am open to reasonable offers. Please add 3 percent for Paypal.
The QC 24 was a Golden Ear Award winner in The Absolute Sound, and here is a quote from Paul Seydor's original review: "I can state that
the QC-twenty four sounds magnifi-
cent on an absolute scale and is thus an
obvious superior buy, especially when
you consider that it is the least expen-
sive component I know to possess that
elusive quality of “continuousness”
(particularly with vinyl sources) that HP
has been given of late to exploring."
