Up for sale, a new STX series power amp constructed with 6V6 Output Tubes.

Hand crafted in Canada with USA/CAN Transformers , Hammond Output Transformers, Edcor Power Transformer and Canadian make choke transformer under the chassis.

Finished in satin black and complete with the tube cage. Its fitted with our hi fidelity driver board that uses either 6BL8 (ECF80) or 6U8 (ECF82) preamp tubes. And like most other design from us, it is being tube rectified, here with a 5U4, or a 5V4 (Pictured using GZ32). Given with the specifications availability with the transformers used on this power amplifier, we decided to wired it in Class A/B to archive 14W+14W Auto-bias in Pentode mode, with majority of power in Class A (approm first 10 watts). It don't just stop here, we also installed 6 NOS Blackcats Capacitors we collected for years on this unit as well using a high quality Mundorf's M-Lytics HV E Cap for the power supply and Furutech Gold IEC, complete with CMC usa gold plated RCA's in, and CMC usa silver plated binding post out in 8 ohms.

This is a brand new build with new components other than the Edcor Power Transformer, in a ST-70 styled chassis - we just like the compactness and the versatile ability in fitting all kind of transformers with a chassis like this, yes, the original ST-70 transformers will fit too, as well many vintage and new transformers such as Tamura, Hashimoto, James and Hammonds...etc.

Those who don't know about our STX series power amp, they comes with two trims, the standard two-tubes high fidelity driver, which is used on this 6V6 amp. And a hot rodded 3-tubes version with one 6922 and two 6FQ7/6CQ7s. And it is offer with several types of selectable output tubes, each we maximize the potential of each output tubes such as 6V6, 5881/6L6, EL34 and KT66 ... etc. The default will be using Hammond Canada /Edcor USA transformers, and wired into Push Pull Class A/B Ultra Linear mode, and everything will be auto-bias. The higher the power, the higher MSRP will be due to bigger transformers and caps.

And does it has to do with the original Dynaco? No, this is a brand new hifi driver design, and totally different. Sound and perform better.

Another major reason why we decide to offer such amp, is alot of customer has some unused transformers in their closet for years without time to utilize them, and this is a perfect platform in doing so to help. Depends the specifications on the transformer, we will advise and guard you thru to see the best use of them. It might work better in pure Class A, or the Output Transformers are better in Triode or Pentode mode, or even manual bias instead of auto bias ...etc. The combination is endless depends what transformers you have. Like the Yellow bumble bee in the shown photos above, it were tailored to drive the EL34s in Class AB1 mode that puts out about 20 Watts, with majority power in Class A Autobias, it were further upgraded with high quality Mundorf power supply E caps, coupling caps and all kind of nice connectors and wires. So it all depends what we got. It could be a flea watts into Class A Push Pull Triode with 6V6 tubes in autobias mode, or 40W+ with EL34 in Class AB manual bias.

And back to this listing, the price includes set of Sylvania 6V6, at least two set of different NOS Preamp tubes in pair, and one working 5U4/GZ32.

Please make an offer thru Audiogon, we appreciate your business, we also appreciate the opportunity showing thru Audiogon.

Cheers
Tube de Force Team.
