BAT offered this unit in 3 flavors. standard or w/ Remote ( +$500) or w/Remote and Phono Stage (+$1000) The phono stage used was solid state.
The VK-3i uses 2 pairs of 6922 (Sovtek) and a pair of Factory sourced 6v6GT ( made in Russia)
Sonically this unit is exceptional and bested my Cary SLP-88
The answer to the question : "Does it have a phono stage" ? No, it does not - you will need an external phono stage if Vinyl is your primary source of media. This unit does, however come with the Factory Remote which typically added an additional $500 to the cost of the unit.
