Audio Zone Amplifiers Pre-T1 (2 inputs, 2 outputs version)

For sale today is a purist dream come true: 100% passive transformer-based passive preamplifier, or more precisely, passive volume control unit. Sorry, this is not a tube pre, but they did not have a subcategory for this.

This amazing but expensive beast works by converting an incoming high-voltage low-current signal into a low-voltage high-current equivalent. Unlike resistor-based attenuators, instead of using discrete resistors to form the ladder, this uses discrete transformer secondaries that are hard-wired to a stepped rotary switch.
The advantage is an absolutely transparent tone: nothing added! If you really want to hear your $3000 direct-heated single-ended triode amp (I used it with Yamamoto Sound Craft A-08S/45), this thing is for you.
Another advantage is the gain in dynamic resolution at low volumes. The "unused" portion of the incoming source signal isn't thrown away as heat (resistor-based attenuation). It's converted to current, insuring better amplifier drive.
The reason I'm selling it, is because I now use my HD digital source exclusively, so I plug it directly into the main amp. But aside from having NO preamp, this is the next best option.
It is in a very good condition, no scratches, only some discoloration of the chrome (see pictures).
It has two sets of inputs selected by toggle switches, double outputs (in case you want to feed two different amps) and a gain switch.
