47 Labs Model 4704 PiTracer The PiTracer is a state-of-the-art CD Transport designed by Junji Kimura for 47 Laboratory. It is their top-of-the-line product. Many consider this among the absolute finest CD transports ever designed. The PiTracer uses a turntable style spindle for the secured CD to spin and be read. The PiTracer is a 16bit/44.1kHz format transport and requires an external DAC. On this unit, there are two sets of outputs: two coaxial BNC and two AES/EBU. More technical info can be found at the 47 Laboratory website. Please search the Internet for rave reviews. The current retail price is $32,000 with one Power Humpty. The additional power humpty is another $2,250. Included in this listing are two (2) Model 4700 Power Humptys (AC120V/60Hz) for optimal performance, allowing you to power the motor drive section and the pickup circuitry separately. Due to the cosmetic issues and age of unit, I have tried to set an incredibly reasonable asking price. I will entertain all reasonable offers as I do not listen to CDs anymore. The Pitracer was kept in storage for the past year due to a move. I just plugged it in and everything performs and it sounds as it should. The top slider glides back and forth without issue and all functions work on command. The display light works. The included remote also works perfectly. Performance wise, this CD transport is in great working condition. The PiTracer has many cosmetic issues and I have tried to capture these with photos. This is why I gave it the low rating and the lowered price. I have many photos, so please message me if you want to see more. There are many tiny scratches, dings, and marks on the top and sides of the transport itself. You can see these in photos (I have used a penny to try and accurately show the size). I have no idea how these happened, but they do not affect the performance of the transport at all. Both rails (that the transport wheels glide upon) show some age and you will notice some gunk/marks on them. I have cleaned them as best I could and the tops are smooth and allow the wheels to glide perfectly back and forth. The two acrylic screws that attach the acrylic top of the tiny gear section (located to the left of the CD holder) have broken off but it is safely secured with tiny strips of double-sided tape. Both Power Humptys have some cosmetic wear with slight scratches, dings, and marks. One Humpty has the three-prongs that helps place the two units close together without touching. The mesh casing of the power cables coming off of the PiTracer have fraying at the ends and on one cable there is a slight kink (does not affect performance). The PiTracer and the two Power Humptys will be packaged in custom made foam and double boxed for safety. Please message me for more photos or if you have any questions. This is a chance to own a rare and state-of-the-art sounding CD transport for a great deal because of the cosmetic issues. Price includes fully insured shipping to the USA/Canada. Split costs for Worldwide shipping. I will cover Paypal fees.
