I have owned lots subs over the years Velodynes, James, Triads, Aerial and others in a variety of sizes, 10", 12", 15" and 18" subs. I have several audio systems in the house but have been mostly them for dual duty in my dedicated listening room, both for home theater which needs units that can move a lot of air and for high-end 2-channel audio, which needs speed and definition. Like in all things speakers there are tradeoffs with each of the brands of subs and the different size drivers. After playing with these things for 25 years I have settled on a pair of Triad Platinum 18 inch powered subs. They seem to offer the size, power, sound quality and good looks that make them very easy to live with and enjoy. As an added bonus, these have to be one of the best bargains in home theater and high end audio.

As they say on the Triad website, they are so reasonably priced, even with very high levels of performance that you can afford to buy two of them. These things sound very, very good. The string bass from Holly Cole's Don't Smoke in Bed CD is tight and full, and when a starship goes by on the home theater you can really feel it, these can move a lot of air when they need to. I figured they were the last subs I would ever own, but turns out we are moving from an from a good sized home with a dedicated home theater to an apartment and there will be no space for the subs. They are both in excellent condition, there may be a bit of a mark of some sort on the top of one of the units but you probably cannot even see it in the photos I took.

The subs are in current production, I bought them new 3 years ago at a cost of 2,800.00 each with the natural cherry veneer. They are very compact, good looking and easy to install in a listening space, especially for the power they have. Just plug them in the wall, and run a balanced or unbalanced interconnect to them and they are ready to go. I am starting the listing price at well under half price, which for units that have been gently used in a smoke free, temperature and humidity controlled environment is a very reasonable price.

These are very attractive looking subwoofers the complement most listening spaces. I have the factory shipping boxes manuals, remote controls and such that come with the subs. It would be great if someone could pick them up, we live in Central Virginia, but I will ship them at the buyers expense. I am looking at the shipping invoice I got with the two subs and they are listed as 354 lbs for the pair (157 lbs per sub). I guess I could sell one if someone does not want a pair, but it would be at a somewhat higher price. Here is some information of the subs from the Triad website:
