This audio cabinet was designed and built by John Sollecito of Source Technologies. The top, bottom, sides, and back of the cabinet are made of 0.75” thick medium density fiberboard (MDF). The shelves are made of 13-ply Baltic Birch. THE SHELVES ARE FIXED and the back is one solid piece, so the cabinet is extremely rigid. The cabinet is finished in a real wood veneer with a gorgeous dark cherry stain. The cabinet comes on four heavy-duty casters.

The shelves are 13-ply Baltic Birch and they are extremely rigid and resist warping. The tops of the shelves are high-gloss black and the fronts of the shelves are dark cherry. The back of the cabinet is black. The fit-and-finish is amazing!

The cabinet matches the 178 XL floor-standing speakers and the 178 XL/CC Center Channel speaker and stand. All of these are finished in the same gorgeous dark cherry. See my other ads on Audiogon.

The cabinet is one year old. I examined the cabinet thoroughly, shining a light on it at different angles, and I do not see any scratches or dents anywhere. There are natural spots in the wood veneer where there are grooves in the wood grain. There are a couple such places on the top of the cabinet. If you shine a light at the exact angle where the entire surface lights up and appears white, you can see several 1-inch, and 2-inch, grooves that do not reflect the light the same way. When you examine them up close, they are not cracks or dents, they are natural grooves in the wood grain. From every other angle, you do not see them because they are only noticeable if the there is a direct reflection of light off the entire surface. Even without a flash, I was unable to get these to show up in a picture. This is the way the cabinet came from the factory, I am the original owner.

I rate it a 9/10 on Audiogon’s conservative scale because it is used.

The audio cabinet is very large (37.5” tall on casters, 20.5” wide, 20.5” deep) and it weighs a lot, so traditional shipping would be very expensive (see details below about delivery).

Starting at the bottom, the gaps between the shelves are as follows: 6”, 6”, 8”, and 12”. THE SHELVES ARE FIXED. The gaps between the shelves are high to allow for ventilation (the top shelf is recommended for the amplifier and it should provide about 4-6 inches of cooling space). Large holes have been cut out of the back for ventilation and to allow easy connections to your components. However, the back is still a solid piece of 0.75” thick MDF and the cabinet is extremely rigid.

The internal width of each shelf is 18.75”.

The cabinet is a steal for $500. PayPal adds 3.5%. Free pick-up in Bloomsburg, PA. I am willing to deliver the cabinet to most parts of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island for much less than the cost of shipping. Contact me for exact prices.
