McIntosh MC2255 Power Amplifier

I have noticed of late that the price of some vintage McIntosh components, or at least the ASKING price for them has jumped significantly. Mostly, I think people are hoping for big profits. I have owned more than 75 Mc components since 1971 and I think I have a pretty good bead on what they are worth. I’m not saying that so anyone thinks I‘m swell … I just know what they are worth. Case in point is my MC2255. I bought this from Audio Classics (which means AC went through the unit and made sure it met their standards.) and it still works as well as the day I bought it. The front panel glass is excellent. There is some slight corrosion on top of the transformers and a rust spot on the chrome chassis. I bought it that way and I have cared for it ever since. I am sure this unit was inside a cabinet in a humid environment. The lamps are perfect. The countdown system with piezo is also. This unit was measured at over 300 watts per side.
So … since I have gotten older, I just can’t handle and lift these heavy units and so I am letting them go. If you want a perfect MC2255 and want to pay $4000, then this is not your unit. If you have wanted to own an MC2255 you can enjoy for decades, and you plan an installation where only the front panel glass shows, this is your unit. The price is $2,300. I also have an MC7270, an MC2002 and an MPI4 to sell. Now … the conditions. I will no longer ship my units … period.
