McIntosh MC2002 / Serviced / Factory Shipping Materials

For sale is a nice vintage MC 2002 amp. The 7/10 rating is largely due to the age of this amp. Overall, this amp is in nice condition. If you are looking for a big high
power Mac with meters, this is defiantly one to consider. Sonically, the amp performs great, with zero issues. Despite the high power output this amp is capable of, it runs very cool. This amp was recently serviced by one of the premier McIntosh dealers in the country. The amp is operating at or above spec; all of the lamps are working great. The legendary meters are smooth and in proper working order; when I place my preamp into mono mode, both the R and L meters show identical readings. There are very few cosmetic issues. The original glass is perfect, with zero chips, cracks, or scratches. However, there are some light flakes forming at the top of the glass. This problem is easily addressed, and I can advise the new owner of how to correct this. One of the front side chrome pieces has a
slight mar at the bottom. There are two “McIntosh Clinic” stickers on the top rear of the amp. I do not feel these stickers detract from the cosmetics, because in my
opinion, they are part of the McIntosh heritage. This amp was “performance verified” by Dave O’Brian, of the McIntosh Clinic fame, at one of his McIntosh Clinics. Unlike most amps of this vintage, it has changed hands very few times; I purchased the amp from the second owner. For a vintage piece, this amp is very presentable, and would make a fine addition to any high-end audio system. This amp will drive virtually any speaker with ease. And as always, with McIntosh equipment, they make more power than they are rated for. This amp will be shipped in nearly new boxes, which were recently acquired from McIntosh. The shipping boxes were made by McIntosh to specifically fit the MC2002. I own several amplifiers; due to that fact, this amp has not been used a lot during my ownership. It has always been kept in a smoke free, child free, pet free dedicated listening room.
