I am selling an excellent example of a classic McIntosh MC-250 "Laboratory
Standard" Power Amplifier. I purchased this from the tech who works on my vintage equipment. He made repairs as needed. I've never had a problem with this in the three years that I've owned this.
Since this was made immediately following the McIntosh tube amplifier era, it is designed much like a tube amp but is driven by transistors. An example is the use of
(single-winding type) output transformers which gives the unit a set of
output impedance characteristics similar to tube equipment in many respects.
Specifications are:
ELECTRICAL: 50w/ch stereo. 100w mono. Response 20-20kHz (+0 -0.25dB). Distortion 0.25%. Noise and hum -90dB. Output impedance 4, 8 and 16 ohms (2, 4 and 8 ohms mono). Damping factor 10. Input impedance 200k. Input sensitivity 0.5v. Sentry Monitor.
MECHANICAL: Chrome chassis. Output barrier strips. Audio inputs. Gain controls. Mono-stereo switch. AC outlet. Circuit breaker. Output socket.
Size 7-1/16"H, 10-5/8"W and 15-5/8"D. Weight 35 lb.
This is a 50 watt per channel amplifier.
The unit sounds great and is in excellent condition. I don't see any loss in screen printing. The chrome looks great too. Please see the many photos I've provided. Shipping is a flat $40 in the continental U.S. I will pack very well.
