This is a special amp. To start with, this amp was acquired by me from the original owner who had the amp in a vacation home and subsequently used it very little. When it was being shipped to me, the power switch and one of the LED lamps on the front bias meter was damaged so I sent it to Krell for repair. The Krell service manager recommended I go ahead and replace all the electrolytic capacitors as well as fix the LED and power switch. So I had that done as well. It wasn't that there were signs of the caps needing replacement, rather he just recommended doing it due to age while it was there. The amp has been completely gone over now, all electrolytic capacitors have been replaced and the bias has been set. So, what I am offering here is a truly like new Krell KSA-100S that includes the original packaging, the original remote (which looks like new as well), the original owner's manual, the original Krell issued AC cord and a copy of the receipts totaling $1,170 in work done to the amp. The 2 huge caps were nearly $200 alone! Another feature that sets this KSA-100S apart from many is the fact that it has the more desirable R-core square transformer (not the round). I have been using this amp mated to the Krell KRC-3 preamp that I also have listed, through a pair of Aerial Acoustics 10T speakers and have been just amazed! The legendary Krell bass is astounding and it is accompanied by utter resolution as well! My Aerials are performing as I have never heard them. I had a Levinson 27.5 amp previously which has the same essential power rating as the KSA-100S but the Krell outperforms the Levinson by a very noticeable margin. The Krell just gets a better grip on the woofer yielding a tighter and more accurate bass even at high volume- simply awesome. One thing I want to mention is this amp weighs 93 lbs by itself (not 80 as certain sources have it listed) and the shipping weight is about 105 lbs. Maybe it's the square transformer that weighs more? This particular example I am offering is essentially like buying a new Krell KSA-100S. The Audiogon Bluebook is incorrect in that it has the retail price of the KSA-100S listed as $4,900; in fact, it's last retail price in the mid 1990's was $5,500.
