Anyone familiar with the history of Krell, knows of perhaps the most ferocious amplifier they ever made. A PURE CLASS A (no fancy bias, etc), no-compromise amplifier pair that can drive anything down to a dead short! Krell KRS-200 Monos These exceptional amplifiers take up over 5 square feet of space EACH, are very heavy, contain an enormous amount of heat sink area, and generate plenty of heat - but the rewards are worth it. They are built to impressive standards and will drive anything. The amplifier's rating is almost irrelevant - 200W into 8 ohms pure class A; then 400 into 4, 800 into 2, 1600 into 1, 3200 into 0.5, and so on down to 0.1 ohms! I used these examples to drive the bass ribbon units of an Apogee Full Range DIRECT - bypassing the speakers transformers! That should give you some idea of how powerful they are. There are TWO power switches - a master switch in the rear and main on the front. Not your ordinary KRS 200. These are a special one-off version of this model that were used to drive the ML Statements at CES in the '90s. They were then sold to a long-time Brazilian distributor, who eventually sold them to me. (Getting them through customs was no easy task - they did not believe these were just audio amps and would not release them until Krell Inc confirmed my claim). According to the distributor, these particular examples use a different transformer and / or bias arrangement (have not confirmed) and other small differences. These amplifiers are in good condition: LEDs on both power switches on both amps are lighting properly, turn on delay switch in working, some small micro scratches here and there that are not visible unless you look closely, and some slight discoloration on a small area of heat sink in the rear of one amp. I have them hooked up and they seem be operating just fine. I have owned a KRS-300S, the famed KAS monos, and have heard nearly every other amplifier Krell has created. None of those models come close to the stunning realism of the KRS series. I understand Krell's movement to more mainstream audio, but their latest stuff is nothing like the zero-compromise amps built in their early years. They are set for optimized performance, which means 240v. You can probably have Krell set them to 120v, but it would likely cost you less to simply have an electrician tie two 120v circuits (240v balanced) and install the outlets. (I can send a picture of what the US Standard 240v outlet looks like). I will include custom made 240v power cables for both amps at no additional charge as well. 240v operation will provide 4,800 watts (20A x 240) of potential power reserve on a normal 20A line - 120v would limit you to 2400 watts, unless you upgraded to 10 gauge, etc. CAPS were upgraded a little over a year ago. They were acquired from Krell, via their long-time service guy, Ray. I believe there were around 40 Caps, with Bias set to 12 mv. I had an engineer friend check them out. Rails measured 80 volts, equivalent to 300w per channel (this should give you an idea of how conservatively these are rated). The slight discoloring on the rear of one of the heat sinks on one of the amps has nothing to do with transistor heat, as all transistors tested within a few millivolts of each other. The discoloring was likely due to a less than perfect dye from when the heat sinks were originally produced. Otherwise, these amps are in outstanding condition. These amps are recommended for experienced audiophiles only, due to the enormous power reserves available. I have the original crates, but recommend you pick them up, as transport costs for nearly 500 lbs of amplifier won't be cheap. However, the choice is yours. Remember. there are TWO large crates. Email with any questions.

Questions for the seller
Are the amp stands in the photos part of auction package? Thanks.
No - those are very expensive Billy Bags Pro stands that are not part of the auction. However, if you are interested, I'm willing to sell them separately. Thanks for your interest.
