You're looking at a gently used First Watt J2 Power JFET amplifier for sale. The J2 amplifier rarely comes up on Audiogon. It's a great opportunity to obtain a sweet sounding single-ended class-A amplifier made by Nelson Pass himself!
The unit is in excellent condition, I could not find obvious imperfection upon close inspection. I rate it to 8/10 just to be conservative (and since I'm not the original owner). I'm only selling it because I upgraded to much more expensive First Watt SIT-1 mono-blocks.
I owned Pass Labs Aleph 3 which is a classic/benchmark for single-ended class-A power amplifier. I sold Aleph 3 right after I compared it with the J2. The J2 is more detail and natural sounding than Aleph 3. It offers a mid-range and high comparable to single-ended 300B tube amp, but without the hassle of tubes (I own a pair of Cary 300B mono-blocks which I put them aside after I acquired First Watt amp).
I used the J2 in my second system. I obtained great result with the Merlin VSM speakers. The J2 drove the Merlin to high volume without strain, a quality 25 watts goes a long way! Below is the link to the 6moon review:
