I've been building a number of different types of volume control units using the Tortuga Audio LDR master controller board and their microprocessor control. This is absolutely the best sounding volume control I've ever used and I've explored all of the traditional passive and active approachs. In my never ending search for the most transparent volume control that also has remote control and other user definable features, I've ended up here, using Tortuga's raw boards and have learned how to make these components sound better than any other commercial approach.

Here's a link that tells the story about my "ultimate volume control" search. It's on my webpage at:

http://aumacoustics.com/preamplifier-story/

What I've found in my search is that a single input version of my volume control sounds better than one with multiple inputs and a Tortuga switching 3 input board or a dual switch that flips between two inputs. Without a doubt, the single input makes a noticeable positive increase in sound quality over multiple inputs.

I've also found that dual outputs (for speakers and two subs for example) does not degrade sound quality. As a result, I built this particular power supply with one input (one pair of RCA chassis jacks) and two outputs (two separate pairs of RCA jacks).

Typically on my "super high end" builds I use exotic wire (platinum, gold, and silver). To keep costs at a reasonable level, I only used a very high quality high purity and soft annealed solid silver for wiring. All silver wire like this does make a substantial improvement in the sound quality over silver plated copper or pure copper.

In addition, on my "super high end" builds I use expensive Furutech FP-901 rhodium plated RCA chassis jacks ($120/pair x 3 pair). On this build, I used the much cheaper Cardas rhodium plated RCA jacks ($20 x 3 pair).

My custom power supply is located in its own separate chassis and I've found that a separate chassis or expensive two partition chassis (for my ultimate build) also makes a positive improvement in sound quality.

What's nice about these two units that I'm selling here is that they are small. Each chassis measures 6.25" x 6.25" x 2.25" w/o feet. Both units have feet attached to decouple them from a stand or table. What's also nice about having a separate power supply is that it can be tucked behind the volume control unit and placed on another level and hence allow the volume control to occupy the least amount of space. This is really good if you're using the volume control on a small desktop for desktop audio.

The LDR volume control unit has a tinted round 1 1/2" window on the front and behind it is the Tortuga LED display module and remote IR component. Here's a link to Tortuga's website that provides all operating information:

http://www.tortugaaudio.com/documentation/

I'm showing a brand new Apple remote control hand held unit in one of the photos but this remote is not included with this sale unless the purchaser wants me to include it. If so, this increases the purchase price by what I paid for it = $25. If you use your own Apple remote or purchase a new one, you will need to follow the Tortuga documentation to "pair" this remote with the volume control unit. If you purchase the one I have, it is already "paired".

Plus you pay actual shipping cost from me to you. Please send me your address and I'll calculate what that would be prior to your purchase. I will use FedEx ground shipping for shipment.

I will not accept PayPal from this point in time and forward.

I have been burned a bunch of times in the last few years by PayPal. I have been a substantial PayPal user with between $50,000 to $100,000 a year in transactions. I no longer will work with PayPal and will not use their service. So all purchases from me in the future will be paid for by bank cashier's check, postal money order, or wire transfer. If you're interested in the wire transfer option, please let me know and I'll send you my bank's wire transfer information.

Meanwhile, please let me know if you have any questions.

This will be the last volume control unit that I make and sell. I'm leaving the audio industry due to really bad experiences I've had recently. I just had Tim Ryan at Simplifi Audio take $13,000 from me and not deliver a $15,000 pair of Klangwerk Ella speakers that I ordered from him early in 2014. I simply cannot continue to sell things at cost or below cost and also loose this kind of money.

The audio industry is not an ethical or trustworthy place to conduct business. Yes, there are good people but there are also a larger than normal number of unethical types, more than any other industry I've been involved in. So please realize, I'm not trying to sell a piece of junk here. I'm getting rid of a few valued and super high quality items but will no longer follow standard industry practices. It has cost me too much.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR CHECKING OUT MY AD!
